Recently there have been more and more articles on how trash and waste can be converted into useful materials. Researchers have come a long way in finding resources on our earth to get rid of all the waste we create. In this article Fuel Made from Recycled Plastic could Power Ship Engines scientists have been able to take plastic waste, like plastic water bottles, and turn them into a fuel that can be used to power machines and engines. It takes the phrase, Reduce Reuse Recycle, which is a very familiar phrase among individuals and companies, to a whole new level. Perhaps another word to include in this saying could be Reform. When you can take an old item and transform it into something new it’s called Recycling, but to take an old item that can be used as a source of energy, it seems to takes it one step further in the recycling world, to not only reuse the item for second hand use or continual use, but to almost completely dissolve these once manufactured items into thin air, literally. As our world progresses, more and more is being invented, created and manufactured, but at the same time, it seems scientists and researchers are finding more and more solutions on how to dispose of these items to avoid increased wear and tear on our planet earth. Hopefully, in time, we can get these practices to coincide at the same rate, so we have less waste than usable stuff. The next step to move science even further, and to advance our world even more to not only make it greener but also keep it green, would be to create items that are disposable, biodegradable, or don’t need a waste process at all. This may seem an impossible task at this point in time, but as technology, science, and research advances, we will find better ways to keep this planet whole and healthy.
